Signing Day

Today was the big whammy.  The day Mama signs THE paperwork.  I was feeling pretty secure, as we know her pretty well, and have chatted quite a bit with Mama, but there's always that little chance.  As soon as we walked in the door, she announced that her O.B. told her to "get it in writing".  We asked her what that meant, and she explained that she meant the visitation agreement.  We assured her that, of course, we'd have a contract, and that we'd talk to the agency about it when they came.

Then she asked why I had a back pack.  I told her it had clothes for baby, and pulled them out to show her.  (She liked the tie shirt best Jill!)  I had brought them thinking baby would be going home with us.

Once the herd of social workers showed up, Hubs and I headed out to the lobby to go over our paperwork while Mama started on hers.  We were not allowed to sign anything until Mama was done, nor could we be in the room while she signed.  After a bit, the other workers came out, smiling, and we started signing!

It's official, baby J is a Keesler!

We have to go to court, of course, but the hard part is done.

The kids got a very short visit with baby, interrupted when security gave us some trouble.  Apparently big families that adopt are an anomaly that the system is not prepared to handle!

We were so hoping to bring baby back with us tonight, but alas, it was not to be.  I sure hope they won't keep him until Mama goes home, because I think it will be another few days for that!
