Easter Bunny Money

Several years ago, when Isaac went GF/CF (gluten /dairy free), Easter treats became quite a challenge. I could no longer just load everyone up with chocolate and jelly beans and send them, vibrating, off to Sunday school. So, we had to come up with a new tradition.

We decided to imitate a friend, who gives her kids foreign coins from the tooth fairy, and try them in our eggs. You can buy assorted coins by the pound, and they don't cost much, as all of Europe has gone and tossed their individual money for the euro. The kids loved this, and didn't even notice the lack of chocolate, although poor Mike missed his Cadbury eggs! We pile them up, sort them, play treasure hunt, find their countries of origin on the big map, and (don't tell the kids) it's educational!

As we are now the proud owners of about 7 pounds of assorted coins, I decided to add to our Playmobile collection this year. Don't get me wrong, they loved the toys, but ALL of them asked where all the coins were! I guess we will just have to be the proud owner of a few more pounds!
