Gettin' Ready, or How to Induce Time Lag While Still at Home

Our plane is due to take off at 6 AM.  Worse, we're flying from an airport and hour and a half away from home.  Factoring in the required 1-2 hours in security, that means we needed to leave the house by.....2:30.  That is completely unimaginable to me. I am NOT, can I say that louder, NOT an early riser.  8:00 is about my speed, and I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that.  So in order to prevent death due to morning, I decided we needed to prepare a bit.  I decided we should get up early, and go to bed early, and by early I mean the unholy hour of 6:30 AM.  I also wanted to get everyone to bed early. Hahahaha!  What was I thinking?!

The first morning the alarm went off, and I popped right out of bed.  There was whining, sniffling, moaning and tears.  Then I got the kids up.   They zombie walked to the couch, where they collapsed into a near coma state.  Amazingly, we manged to get moving, and had all of our school done by 10:00!  And the early bed time?  No problem!  They were in bed FIVE whole minutes early!

Day two was a bit better, and we had all our school and errands done by noon, but I fell asleep on the couch in the afternoon.  And we got to bed 5 minutes late.  Oops!  Day three.....up after four snooze whacks, and to bed 20 minutes.....late.  Maybe this wasn't such a good plan....

Then Disney eve arrived. Everyone spent the day vibrating in high states of excitement.  Putting them to bed early was a life saving moment, because by bedtime, I couldn't take anymore silliness.  I gave the kids a choice-they could sleep in sweats and be dressed when they got up, or sleep in jammies and throw their clothes on quick in the middle of the night.  Mac chose plan C: wear both!  He put on his sweats and THEN put his jammies on on top!

Doesn't surprise me at all that Mac chose option C. : )

That's great! My daughter would think of something like that.
