He's already pretty good at patterning and sorting, but we did some more, as well as basic addition and subtraction. These little frogs are designed for learning place value, so we've started working on that too. We got these little cuties at Rainbow Resource, but Amazon has them too.
And here's our muffin tin: blue jello pond, pretzel rod logs, crunchy noodles and raisins for flies and worms, green tortilla lily pads, tapioca frog eggs and the cutest marshmallow frogs ever from the Valentines isle.
As the final fun for our frog unit we watched the Frog And Toad movies, after reading the books, of course. As the title came up, I reminded Mac the author's name, and that he was also the illustrator. Then I asked Mac if he remembered what an author did. He answered correctly, then I asked if he remembered what an illustrator did. Immediately he answered "He holds the paper.". Um, well....kinda.
If you'd like to have some frog fun too, here are some fun printables we used:

Frog paper dolls

What a fun idea! That's got to be the best part of MTM for me ... seeing (and sometimes stealing) all of the wonderful ideas all of you other moms have :)

That's a really great idea:-) Cute.
So cute! Great tin!
the tin is SO creative! jack would likely only eat the candy frog and blue jello, but sometimes you need to sacrafice nutrition for a learning experience! :)
