So, another example of my looniness for the neighbors. We've been studying astronomy for science this year, and to celebrate finishing the chapter on the sun, we used magnifying glasses to make s'mores. So here we are, gathered around plates zapping chocolate, and marshmallows. Isaac, who has hand tremors, held still so long he scorched the chocolate ! It was totally fun! Science sure has a lot of
opportunities for snacks!

This reminds me of a post about building a solar oven out of a pizza box. I can't remember where I found it now, but a quick search gave me this site:

Maybe it will help!
WOW WOW WOW! That is SUCH a cool idea!!!! I soooo need to try this out!!! Mmmmmmm Smores!!! :D
this is so much more productive than using magnifying glasses to fry bugs! very cool.
Missy,
you must have missed the aforementioned OBSESSION with all things bug. We do not fry them, we collect them, read about them paint them, and make enormous lapbooks about them. Right this minute I have on my kitchen counter: a mantis, a huge cricket, a shield bug and a dozen feeder crickets. This summer we had an ant farm, ladybug larva, 3 sets of butterflies, and several spiders.
