Before we adopted, I had no idea that some animals were not appropriate
for black kids to wear. Once I learned, I had to go digging through the
closets to make sure my kid isn't THAT black kid who's white mom
dressed them in clothes with monkeys, alligators, raccoons, watermelons,
or other racially inappropriate imagery. Not knowing this was an issue
until a few years ago is #mywhiteprivilege
I'm especialy ashamed of this one. Every time I see a baby picture and Babycakes is wearing a monkey shirt, I cringe and blush. Know better, do better!
