Fair Day

It's not very often that I have a super-mom idea, but this one worked so well, I must share:

A few years ago, one of my kids started saying "It's not fair!".  It became an epidemic, and spread rapidly until I could hardly stand it.  I despise "fair"!  LIFE is not fair!  Who ever said it would be?  So I instituted "Fair day".

On fair day, EVERYTHING was fair.  Ridiculously fair.  I got the kids up early, because it wouldn't be fair if one was sleeping while the others played.
Breakfast was measured out.  It wouldn't be fair if they got more/less than you.  If one finished before the other, they had to sit and wait.  It wouldn't be fair if they got to play and you didn't!
Someone need to go potty?  Everyone stood by the door until they were done.  It wouldn't be fair if they got to play while you didn't, would it?
Baby needed a nap, they all sat on their beds.  That's whats fair!
Little sis couldn't ride a bike yet, so no bikes.  Big brother doesn't like that show so, no TV.  Baby can't play that games, so no computer.  Do you see how fair it was?  Absolutely, perfectly FAIR.

By the end of the day, NO ONE wanted fair!

Now when a kid says "It's not fair!", their sibs cover their mouths, becuse they don't want another fair day!

I LOVE it. We've talked to our kids about fair, but a fair day may just be coming.

Great idea! If it gets too out of control at my house, I just might take your idea and use it here too.

I did the opposite... I showed them what truly unfair was. One person would get ice cream, another would not. One got to play computer, the other not. The only "fair" thing I did was spread out the unfairness. LOL. None of them wanted it to last too long...
