A Bug Story

Once upon a time, a little boy named Mac bought himself a Madagascar hissing cockroach, and named her Becky.  As a bonus, she came pregnant, so a few weeks later he had a multitude of Madagascar hissing cockroaches! His mommy re-homed all the babies except one.  We wouldn't want mommy hisser to be lonely, would we?  The baby was named Caitlyn, and the two hissers lived nicely together for a year.  One day Becky presented the little boy with ANOTHER batch of babies, and Caitlyn got a new name, Calvin, and a new house!

A year later, Becky laid an egg sack.  Can you imagine the mommy's surprise?  There was even naughty words!  Becky's tank is being watched very closely to see if a miraculous birth will take place in the next few weeks, or if Beck just has a vivid imagination.

To be continued......

Mac has a very nice mommy. Most mommies (read me) would've kicked the hisser out long ago.

Yikes! Let's just hope she's like a chicken and can lay eggs without a male around.

Wow. That's crazy! *shivers* I'd never be able to handle them in my house.

I'm wondering if they really need to have a male around? Can they do this kind of stuff by themselves? I'm sure you've looked in to it....
