Camping at Etah's

While in Colorado, we took the opportunity to visit my grandparent's property in the mountains.  Buddy camped here when he was 7 months.  Mimi was 5 months on her first visit, and Princess only 6 weeks when she camped here the first time.  While we were there, it occured to me that while Mac had visited, this was his first camping trip at Grandma's place, and he's FIVE! But no worries, we're already planning a trip for next summer, so he can catch up!

As we drove up, Mac worried.  He fretted and wondered, and finally admitted what was upsetting him.  He didn't know how to hike.  I explained several times the hiking was a lot like walking, only up and down hills, but he was sure I was wrong.  So I finally told him I'd give him a hiking lessons after we got there.  So after we settled in, we took off for a "walk", and after a few minutes, I let him in on the secret.  He was hiking!

The kids favorite activity was pumping water.  Everyone took a turn or six, (Even Mike!)and the bushes are now very well watered!

As the kids played, the collected berries, and sat them on a stump to show Nana.  After some time, they wanted to show her the red, green and brown berries.  Brown?  What bush has brown berries, I wondered.  So I walked over to look.  OH!  Those are DEER BERRIES!  Yup, they'd collected poo!

And what did Mike do on our camping trip?  He hung out!
